The University of Jordan (UJ) has been awarded an overall rating of 4 Stars by the QS Stars of the 'QS Intelligence Unit', becoming the first HE institution in Jordan to receive this rating.
In the recently concluded audit of Quaquarelli Symonds (QS), UJ also received the highest rating, 5 stars, in 4 important categories; Inclusiveness, Innovation, Teaching, and Employability.
Ashwin Fernandes, Regional Director (Middle East, Africa & India) at QS Quacquarelli Symonds visited UJ and officially presented the QS stars certificate to UJ President Prof. Azmi Mahafzah in a special ceremony held earlier today.
"It’s a pleasant day for UJ," Mahafzah said in his remarks at the ceremony, adding that the achievement is the result of years of hard work of all staff members whose efforts have brought us to this point. Mahafzah also called for more efforts to boost research output and quality at UJ.
In turn, Prof. Shaher Momani, Dean of Academic Research and Quality Assurance, emphasized the importance of academic research as a core component of development, referring to measures taken by UJ to improve its performance in scientific research.
Director of the Accreditation and Quality Assurance Center, Dr. Faleh Sawair explained that the University has scored a total of 623 points, adding that only 77 points are separating UJ from the five-star rating.
On the sidelines of the ceremony, Fernandez delivered a lecture in which he introduced QS and spoke about its aims, services, and rankings. In addition, he talked about the role of QS in improving the image of universities in the world.
