Aqaba, Jordan – Prof. Dr. Saleh Rawadieh, Vice President of the University of Jordan for the Aqaba Branch, welcomed on Monday, 16 February 2026, a research team in coral and cell physiology from Freie Universität Berlin. The delegation included Professor Prof. Dr. Salah Amasheh and Dr. Linda Droessler, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen scientific and academic cooperation between the two institutions.
During the visit, and in the presence of Dr. Ali Al-Sawalmih, an Associate Researcher at the Marine Science Station, discussions focused on advancing joint research collaboration and expanding scientific partnerships, particularly in the fields of marine sciences and coral and cell physiology.
The visit took place within the framework of the Erasmus academic mobility program and reflects the active research collaboration between the Marine Science Station at the University of Jordan and the Institute of Veterinary Physiology at Freie Universität Berlin. During the meeting, Professor Amasheh presented current and future cooperation, including exchange visits for researchers, development of student exchange programs, and implementation of joint research projects aimed at advancing the understanding and conservation of marine ecosystems.
Professor Amasheh also serves as the coordinator for international relations, partnerships and international students at the School of Veterinary Medicine, where he plays a key role in promoting and strengthening global scientific collaboration. He also serves as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Jordan and is a member of the research group “Marine Ecology and Sustainable Coastal Management” at the University of Jordan / Aqaba Branch, contributing to the advancement of international research collaboration and the development of joint research programs in marine sciences.
Professor Amasheh is scheduled to deliver a presentation at the University of Jordan next Monday, where he will present opportunities for joint research between the University of Jordan and Freie Universität Berlin, explore prospects for collaborative research projects, and discuss potential funding opportunities from international donor agencies to support joint research initiatives.
This visit reflects the University of Jordan’s ongoing commitment to strengthening its position as a regional center of excellence in marine sciences and expanding its international partnerships to support scientific research and academic capacity development.
