Aqaba University of Jordan hosts a lecture on research partnerships and academic exchange programs

The University of Jordan – Aqaba Branch hosted a distinguished academic lecture on Monday delivered by Professor Dr. Salah Amasheh of Freie Universität Berlin, highlighting future prospects for strategic research and academic collaboration between the two institutions.

The visit forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen scientific cooperation in marine sciences, coral physiology, and cell physiology.

The lecture was attended by a number of deans, department chairs, and faculty members from the University of Jordan. In his presentation, Professor Amasheh outlined current collaborative activities between the Marine Science Station at the University of Jordan and the Institute of Veterinary Physiology at Freie Universität Berlin, particularly within the framework of the Erasmus academic mobility program.

Professor Amasheh emphasized the importance of structured and sustainable partnerships that extend beyond mobility programs to include joint supervision of graduate students, collaborative research proposals, shared laboratory infrastructure, and long-term research platforms addressing marine ecosystem resilience and conservation challenges in the Red Sea region.

He also presented future lines of cooperation, including the development of joint research projects targeting international funding opportunities, the expansion of student exchange programs that translate scientific research into practical applications and innovation-driven initiatives.

The lecture concluded with an engaging discussion session focusing on building interdisciplinary research teams, enhancing joint grant competitiveness, and positioning both institutions as key contributors to regional and international marine science initiatives.

This visit and lecture underscore the University of Jordan’s commitment to strengthening its role as a regional center of excellence in marine sciences and expanding its international academic partnerships to advance research, innovation, and capacity development.
