A Workshop on the Aqaba Hackathon for Green Entrepreneurship at the University of Jordan/Aqaba Branch

The Aqaba Branch of the University of Jordan organized a workshop on the Aqaba Hackathon for Green Entrepreneurship to familiarize students with the main aims of the hackathon and its major tracks. The workshop highlighted opportunities for innovation and environmental sustainability through entrepreneurship but also encouraged young people to seek practical solutions to the environmental challenges facing the local community.

The Aqaba Hackathon includes a set of important tracks, including the treatment of organic and industrial waste, recycling circular agriculture, the use of artificial intelligence to monitor soil pollutants, water and wastewater management, as well as the use of smart technologies to mitigate environmental pollution. The hackathon, therefore, aims to introduce awareness programmes via smart phone applications that would contribute to involving particular segments of society.

The workshop brought together participants and experts in the fields of agricultural and tourism entrepreneurship in an attempt to strengthen ties with the innovative and technical community. It is expected that such initiatives will contribute to improving the environmental reality in the Aqaba Governorate and enhancing sustainability efforts.
