The Tourism and Hospitality School organizes a workshop in cooperation with Hilton Hotels

The Tourism and Hospitality School at the Aqaba Branch of the University of Jordan, organized a workshop entitled 'Labor Market Requirements in the Hospitality Sector', in cooperation with Hilton Hotels. The workshop was attended by the Dean of the School Dr. Omar Al-Jawabra,  faculty members and university students.

At the outset, Dr. Omar Al-Jawabra welcomed the attendees, pointing out the importance of such events in providing students with the needed knowledge about the labor market requirements in the tourism and hotels sector, and their significant impact in enhancing the students' skills and increasing their future opportunities in the labor market.

Dr. Al-Jawabra explained that such workshops provide an important platform for thorough interaction with leading international companies, which enhances the students' ability to understand the needs and requirements of the sector, and prepares them for future challenges in the hospitality industry. Dr. Al-Jawabra also pointed out the importance of training in meeting the requirements of the labor market in the hospitality sector by qualifying human cadres to achieve continuous development and improvement in this sector. Education and training, in his view, contribute to providing workers with the skills and knowledge necessary to provide high-quality services and meet market needs appropriately. Vocational and technical education programs are also considered effective means to achieve this, as such programs provide students with the opportunity to learn direct practical skills that are compatible with the needs of the labor market in the hospitality sector.

Dr. Al-Jawabra concluded his talk by stating that based on a comprehensive analysis of the labor market in the hospitality sector in Jordan, it can be claimed that there is an urgent need to improve vocational and technical education programs to meet the changing needs of the labor market. Cooperation between the private sector and the government must also be enhanced to develop training programs that suit the needs of the industry. Moreover, he stressed that innovation and the adoption of technology in developing hospitality services should be encouraged by providing support and encouraging investment in this field.

On her part, Mrs. Ghada Mansour, Director of Human Resources at Hilton Hotels, highlighted the most important skills and capabilities that the labor market is looking for within this sector, stressing the role of academic preparation and practical training in improving the efficiency of workers and achieving success in this vital field. During the workshop, representatives from the Hilton Hotels presented a detailed lecture on the basic requirements that the job market is looking for in the hospitality sector, pointing out the importance of service excellence and effective communication as essential skills that are essential for success in this field. They also spoke about the opportunities available to students in global hospitality companies such as Hilton, stressing that the company is looking for innovative, ambitious young people who are able to adapt to the rapid changes in this sector. During the workshop, Mrs. Maryam Sarbal, Director of Development and Innovation at Hilton Hotels, discussed the importance of practical training in the work environment, and emphasized how students can benefit from the internship programs to develop their skills in a practical way. She also drew attention to the need to acquire management and leadership skills, and the ability to deal with daily work pressures.
